Angry Autist

We're two Autistic, ADHD systems who are radical disability advocates with a focus on rare disease advocacy, Mad liberation, and intersectional neurodiversity.

About the Galaxy System

Hi! We’re the creators of The Angry Autist. We use plural first person pronouns (we, us) when referring to ourselves as we are a dissociative system. When referring to alters we may use singular pronouns (I, me).We identify as neurodivergent and Mad, medium support needs autistic, ADHD, plural, and antisocial. We have lived experience with psychosis, dissociation, repeated trauma and RAMCOA, psychiatric incarceration.Physical disability and chronic illness is also a part of our lives. Our main diagnosis is Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, which combined with fluoroquinolone toxicity causes chronic pain, frequent injury, chronic tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, ligament damage, and severe allergies. Long COVID has exacerbated these symptoms and also caused chronic fatigue.Beyond our disabilities, we are mixed indigenous, specifically Native American to the Andes Mountains in South America; we descend from the Aymara and Quechua tribes. While we live in New England (United States), our home is Bolivia. We broadly identify as queer; while each alter in our system may hold other specific identities, as a whole we identify as neuroqueer, genderqueer, transgender, and pansexual.Outside of our online presence, we’re a professional musician with a degree in music composition. We play several instruments and teach them as well! We also enjoy crocheting and digital art.

About the Supernova System

Hi! We’re the other half of the creators of The Angry Autist. As our partner system mentioned, we use plural pronouns in reference to our system, and also use singular pronouns when referring to an alter. We also identify as neurodivergent and Mad, the latter of which is a fairly new concept for many of us in the Supernova System. We also fall under the identities of ADHD, MSN Autistic and plural. We have lived experiences with third culture childhood, repeated severe childhood trauma, trauma within therapy, and dissociation/derealization/depersonalization. We also have dyscalculia and hyperlexia. We also deal with multiple physical disabilities and are chronically ill! We are deafblind (deaf/HoH with low vision), deal with Long Covid (causing chronic fatigue, brain fog, and other issues), have memory issues exacerbated by our DID and chronic history of concussions, POTS, hEDS, have a rare visual disease called Juvenile Open Angle Glaucoma, and more! We’re Canadian by birthright, Pakistani by heritage and a US citizen, giving us triple citizenship and three countries to call home. While we consider Pakistan home, we live in New England within the United States! We also broadly identify as queer, although many of our alters hold different identities! Beyond our social media presence, we’re a full time college student studying to become a pediatric rare disease geneticist and obtain an MD/PhD in our respective field. We’re also a competitive equestrian and compete both on our school team and outside of it. We love to read, make art and write poetry, write books, and spend time with horses!

Our Values

TW: brief mentions of SI, SH, oppressive institutionsAutonomy:
Above all, we should empower, protect, and treasure the autonomy of all beings, even if we are taught that their choices are “scary”, “wrong”, or “unsafe”. If preventing material harm involves limiting the autonomy of a being, it should be done so in a way that preserves the most autonomy possible.
It is all connected:
The oppression of mad and neurodivergent beings is inherently connected to, and cannot be separated from all other oppressive systems, including but not limited to the prison-profit system, the healthcare industry, racism (especially anti-Blackness), sexism, and queerphobia.
Inclusivity:
Neurodivergence is not only autism and ADHD, nor is it limited to those with societally palatable traits, low support needs, or well-known conditions. Neurodivergence includes all folks with minds that diverge from neuronormative prescriptions of the “ideal” mind. This includes folks labelled with narcissistic and antisocial “personality disorder”, plurality and systemhood, people who experience psychosis, and more.
Pathologization and suppression:
Pathologization of neurodivergence and madness serves as functions of oppressive systems, and benefits those in control of the systems. While mad and neurodivergent people may rely on pathologization as a means to get support, the goal should be to end systems that require such pathologization to receive support, which is a human right. No human right should come with conditions.
Growth and accountability:
Community members should call other members to improve, especially when they perpetuate oppressive systems through language or behavior. There is no obligation for folks to “watch their tone” or not express their emotions when calling out behaviors that perpetuate their marginalization. Community members should take a rehabilitative approach to transgressions than a punitive approach.
Privilege and personal introspection:
It is the responsibility of beings to investigate and weed out the roots of oppressive systems that exist in all of us. It is our responsibility, to ourselves and to our community, to identify, acknowledge, and reparate for our privileges.
